Broken leg and school attendance
Main Post:
Hello, does anyone have experience with a schoolchild who has a broken leg? Mine is 6 years old and I have no idea how to behave. When can he go back to school? How should he get around? At the moment we are still waiting for the doctor's appointment and he has a cast on his whole leg
Top Comment: I got crutches and a "shoe" for over the cast in elementary school. Worked very well for me. Otherwise, just be a calm presence for your child. It's certainly all very exciting and parents are the best place to make sure everything is OK. Good luck🍀

Kids at school have been making fun of my leg after I tore my ACL (18F
Main Post:
Lately, I’ve been very depressed because of my leg and people don’t help me either kids keep cracking jokes at school and limping behind me. I am 4 weeks post op. I am very depressed about it,it’s my senior year too. Do people ever make fun of any of you since you’ve messed up your leg?
Just remembered to add even one of my faculty members was swinging her leg making fun of me , so I don’t think it’s worth telling adults. I don’t think I’m a mean person or hate-able. I genuinely don’t know why. Another reason this is so emotional at school is because I can’t play my sport I love softball. The softball girls will make fun of my leg to that makes me sad that maybe they don’t miss me at all
Top Comment: Fuck those kids
A girl with a peg leg goes to her high school dance...
Main Post:
And she is slowly walking around, sad that nobody wanted to dance with her. Right before she was about to leave a boy with a wooden eye walks up and asks her to dance. To which she replies
"Would I! Would I!"
The boy is angered anD snaps back at her.

Top Comment: Hell yeah. I don’t care how non functional the movements are I believe in these for leg hypertrophy and they might be the machines I miss the most as I grind through my home gym workouts.

Do Penn State Undergraduates get a "leg up" when applying to Penn State Graduate School?
Main Post:
Hello,
I am an engineering student (undergrad) thinking of grad school. Do Penn St undergrads get a leg up when applying to PSU's graduate school? My GPA is pretty mediocre at 3.5 and I just took a GRE practice test and scored a very average score.
Despite these very average numbers, would Penn State give me any consideration since I am a PSU student? I have professors that can recommend me, as well as internship and research experience.
Top Comment: No - Undergraduates get no preferential treatment. In general Universities discourage undergraduates from enrolling in graduate schools of the same university. They want "more diversity" and since you've taken classes from the faculty you may not be able to offer any new experience or education. Frankly since the pool of graduates students far exceeds the available spots they can be particular. I would certainly go to the Graduate Student offices (Kern?) and ask however.
I am at the last leg of my grad school journey but I feel as though this experience has made me worse, not better. Any words of wisdom? Does it get better after you defend?
Main Post:
I am a Ph.D. candidate, I finally have a defense date, but all I feel is regret. I have never felt so low in my life. Therapy and medications are not helping and I am less sure of myself than I have ever been. I am constantly in a negative mind frame and I have no hope for the future. Any words of wisdom or pieces of advice you can share about the transition from a PhD to the next phase of your life?
Top Comment:
Not sure why you feel regret, I assume it is because of the PhD? I just wanted to say that it doesn't define you. You became a PhD candidate because of everything you have done up until this point. You grinded away and made it this far. We're living in strange times with COVID and right now its important to get some air when you can, talk to your friends and family. Tell them how you're feeling and why you think you're feeling that way. And as cliche as it sounds there's a light at the end of the tunnel, you'll look back one day and think wow that time was rough but I kept at it and now I am here doing what I wanted to do.
What is the best way to get into leg locks if your school doesn't teach them?
Main Post:
Hi all, I go to a very gi orientated school, but I have a passion for no-gi. I've learned a lot of no-gi moves from YouTube, but the leg lock positions seem very intricate and the submissions tricky.. What is your go to online resource for an absolute leg lock noob to learn leg locks/leg lock positions?
